You won’t be bored in Decin this summer. The calendar is packed with cultural and sporting events for the whole family. Events are in the works from the folks at the castle, the theater, Decin zoo, the swimming pool, and other organizers too. But the fun won’t end when the kids go back to school. The first two weekends of September will see fireworks, the Adrenalin Challenge, a woodcutting festival, Tyrs Decin, and a music festival.

“The loosening of pandemic restrictions has allowed us to push forward with planning events for the coming months. Over the summer we want people not to be bored, to get them out for some culture, sports, meeting friends, and having plenty of fun. The coronavirus made us miss out on our town festival, so we want to make it up to our citizens and visitors over the summer and into the first half of September,” says Jaroslav Hrouda, the city’s mayor.

Each Sunday through the end of September is devoted to the a musical afternoons series on the riverfront below the castle and the castle itself will attract visitors every day with its Lego castles exhibit.

In July and August the town cinema moves outdoors to the castle courtyard and the castle will also host an array of concerts and performances, including the popular Czech musical group Cechomor and a performance of “The Servant of Two Masters”.

The Decin Zoo is planning special evening tours.

Big draws will include the Iron Dumpling triathlon, Streetfest, the Elbe Streetball Cup, and the two-day Street Theater Festival which will bring a number of well-known Czech actors to town.

The second weekend of September will be given over to Tyrs Decin, a Sokol festival. The previous weekend will include many events that are usually part of the city’s May festival, which was cancelled. There will be fireworks, the Adrenalin Challenge, the woodcutting festival, and a music festival featuring performers such as pop singer Ewa Farna.
