Unique views of Jetřichovice

Bohemian Switzerland is a land of viewpoints and the most famous are Jetřichovice rock viewpoints with poetic names: Maria's Rock, Vilemina's Wall, Rudolf's Stone. All three Jetřichovice viewpoints are named after members of the Kinský family who owned the local estate.

Description of the trip

You can go to Jetřichovice, about 15 kilometres away, by tourist bus from Děčín (line numbers 434 and 436, stop Jetřichovice - inn).

We will start the hike directly from the tourist information centre along the blue hiking trail. We will start climbing gently around Cat Church and continue along the meadows still on the blue for about 2 km to the rock chapel of KNY. Not far behind the chapel there is a signpost. Here you will climb the stairs and follow the red trail. There are particularly grandiose rock formations to be seen here.

We continue along the Jetřichovice Wall nature trail directly below Coliseum (here is the first zone of the National Park Czech Switzerland). On the way we will admire beautiful views of the surroundings. After walking for a while we come to the signpost Sofa, where there is actually one carved out of wood. From here it is less than a kilometer to the crossroads Rudolf's Stone under the eponymous rock lookout also called Ostroh. The climb up is a bit steeper, but even fearless children can manage it. The rock offers a circular view of the youngest national park in the Czech Republic.

Follow the same hiking trail (red) and you will arrive at the Purkartický les crossroads. Soon from the crossroads we turn to Velemín's wall and after about 200 m we enjoy panoramic views. From here you can see for example Pink Hill. Our hike continues along the red trail and we can stop under a massive rock overhang at Balzerova Lezhna (Tetřevna) and refresh ourselves in the shade on a bench.

A pleasant forest path leads us to Mary's Rock. In this area we are witnessing the natural regeneration of the forest after a week-long fire on Raven's Hill, which broke out in 2006. The final ascent is through passages between the rocks on carved and wooden stairs with railings. A wooden gazebo stands at the top. In good weather we are rewarded with breathtaking views as far as Saxon Switzerland.

The route will lead us back to the village Jetrichovicewhere we can see a varied sample of folk half-timbered and timbered houses or admire the newly opened exhibition on the history of Jetřichovice next to the Restaurant Praha.
