The lookout tower Růženka belongs to one of the newer lookout towers in the region. It was built in the spring of 2018 on the Pastevní vrch hill, near the village of Růžová. It is particularly interesting because of its shape, which is reminiscent of the unrealised design of the National Library in Prague by the architect Jan Kaplický. However, the shape of the viewpoint was designed long before him, in the studios of a new generation of architects from Liberec. You will also be surprised by its unusual height. It measures only 6.2 metres. Yet the view from it will blow you away.
Towards the German side you can see the peaks of Großer and Kleiner Zohirnstein, Pfaffenstein, Papstein, Lilienstein and Kaiserkrone. On the Czech side you can see Wolf Mountain, Pravčická Gate, Děčínský Sněžník or the Jedlová and Studenec lookout towers. Apart from the romantic peaks, you can observe the magical plains from the lookout tower, where most of the time sheep, llamas, horses and long-haired cows graze from the nearby stables.
The best way to get to Růženka is from the village of Růžová, which is about 8 kilometres from Hřensko. You can arrive by car or by bus line 432. The beginning of the road to Pastevecký vrch (and also to Růženka) starts at the Church of St. Peter and Paul, from where you turn right to the stables. From there, a green marked path leads across the pasture to the summit. This route is about 1 kilometre long.
Růženka and Pastevecky Hill are also one of the points of the Růžová Nature Trail, which passes through the Czech Switzerland National Park and the Protected Landscape Area Labské pískovce. It is a circular route where you can learn many interesting facts about the local nature and history of Růžová, Jetřichovice and their surroundings. The whole route is about 10 kilometres long.
