Advent 2024

This year's Advent program is organized by Decin's Municipal Center for Culture and Tourism.

This year's Advent calendar kicks off on Friday 29 November with the opening of Christmas Street in Krizova ulice. You can look forward to live music every evening. Children can expect a visit from St. Nicholas and his entourage (courtesy of the DDM youth center) on 5 December. December 6 and 12 there will be Christmas workshops with Slunecnice. On December 13, visitors can enjoy a live Nativity scene with angels (on stilts). It goes without saying that there will be plenty of stands selling mulled wine and other holiday goodies and gifts and plenty of wintry holiday atmosphere.

On Saturday, November 30, the Christmas Food Festival takes place on Masarykovo namesti. Come for the great food and a packed musical program including the Rose Hill Band, Pavel Houfek and his choir, and Martin Posta with Recital Horacek & Hapka.

On December 1 the main square (Masarykovo namesti) will celebrate the Christmas tree lighting to kick off the Advent season in earnest. Visitors can expect a Christmas market and entertainment on the square. The DDM youth center, Gymnasium Decin, singer Bara Basikova and the Teplice Conservatory will perform. The highlight of the evening will be the Kvelb Theatre with angels on stilts who will light the Christmas tree.

Another day to mark on your calendar is December 14, with the Christmas market on Husovo namesti in Decin’s Podmokly neighborhood. Performances will include students from the Decin school of the performing arts, the band Kuzle, the SaH choir, the Decin choir and Pavel Houfek. There will be stalls selling hot drinks and a musical program on Husovo namesti throughout Advent. Don’t miss Thursday caroling with mulled wine. This year you can also look forward to new decorations in the town including Christmas photo points.
