Decin Town Festivities

Concerts, fireworks, market fairs and other fun pack Decin’s cultural calendar every May and June and this year is no exception!

The 2024 Town Festivities include ever-popular events like the fireworks display, the Labefest music festival, and the Adrenalin Challenge.

May 17–19

The festival kicks off May 17 with a lantern-light parade across town with the city’s Historical May Fair that weekend, held this year in the south garden of Decin Castle. Saturday 18 May is a battle reenactment on the Marian meadow to mark the 580th anniversary of the taking of Decin by Hussite forces. The event will include craft demonstrations. That weekend there is also a florist competition and a review of youth free-time activities.

May 25–26

Wood sculptors will meet and chainsaws buzz for the wood carving festival on the Marian meadow. Watch statues, benches, and life-sized Nativity figures come to life before your eyes. Saturday there will be plenty of activities for children (Belasek) and also a veteran car show and parade. Sunday means Seniors Day on the riverside and Games Day in the Old Town sports complex.

May 31–Jun 2

On Friday, May 31, the night sky lights up with fireworks and the Labefest musical festival kicks off for the weekend, featuring big names from the Czech musical scene (Olympic, Mig 21, Yzomandias, and others). On Saturday kids can test their metal at the Adrenalin Challenge Kids.

June 8–9

Basketball lovers meet up for the Streetball Cup on Saturday at the library’s riverside parking lot. On Sunday the Run Labe Run footrace takes off from the riverside.

June 15–16

Those looking for a challenge can compete in the Predator obstacle course race on the 15th. Those who would rather sit back with a glass of rosé can head to Krizova ulice the same day for the Day in Pink wine tasting.

Labefest

May 31–June 2, the riverbank below the castle will once again be transformed into a festival space for this major event on Decin’s cultural calendar. This year’s festival includes one stage on the riverside and a second stage in the park south of the castle. Fans can look forward to performances by Czech rock legends Olympic, popular Mig21 with lead singer Jiri Machacek, hitmaker Xindl X, as well as Imodium, Doctor Victor, Post-in, Five O’Clock Tea, and others. Adrenalin Challenge

This popular event will be exclusively for children this year! It takes place in the Marian Meadow, the park south of the castle on June 1, with ten disciplines just for kids. There will also be plenty of games and theater performances for kids throughout the day. Get an ice cream and enjoy the fun!
