Swimming pools and lakes

There are lots of places around Decin to go for a swim.

Aquapark Decin

There’s lots of fun at Decin’s largest swimming complex Aquapark Decin. The park is one of the best equipped in the country. On summer days swimmers have three outdoor pools to choose from, a 50-meter, a 25-meter, and a 33-meter with a 6-meter diving well.

Malsovice pool

This neighborhood swimming pool with a wading area is kept in tip-top shape. There are tennis courts and a football (soccer) pitch nearby. Get here by bus no. 431, by train (Malsovice station), or by car.

Novy Svet pool

This pool is located in a natural setting between the villages of Ruzova and Arnoltice. It is open only in the summer months.

Vernerice reservoir

This reservoir with a concrete bottom has a grassy area for relaxing. It is located near the village of Vernerice. There are changing areas and a volleyball court.

Ceska Kamenice swimming pool

The swimming pool is located in the northern part of Ceska Kamenice. It was renovated and reopened in 2002.

Jetrichovice swimming pool

This swimming hole is located in a natural setting in gorgeous Bohemian Switzerland National Park.

The pool’s shallow end (up to 130 cm) is reserved for non-swimmers. The deep end of the swimming pool (up to 250 cm) is for swimmers only. The pool is fed by a natural stream and has a grassy beach area. There are toilets, changing rooms, refreshments, and a volleyball court. There are plenty of hiking and cycling trails nearby.

Oleska pond

The pond in the village of Stara Oleska, roughly 5 km west of Ceska Kamenice, is a favorite among locals. With an area of 12 ha, its primary purpose is fish farming. The swimming area is on the north bank. The western end is part of the Start Oleska nature preserve and is a protected area.

In 1972 there was a tragic airline crash here. A DC-9 (flight JAT 367) came down near the banks of the pond. There was only one survivor, flight attendant Vesna Vulovic. Two memorials commemorate the fateful event, one at the water’s edge and one at the crash site. An exhibit in the ground floor of Rabstejn in Janska explores the tragedy.

Benesov nad Ploucnici thermal swimming pool

The swimming pool in Benesov and Ploucnici has two parts, a main pool and a children’s wading area. The pool measures 20 x 40 meters. There is a grassy area for sunbathing all around. The water comes from a natural hot spring (average temperature 26°C) and has an elevated iron content, which results in a rusty residue that settles to the bottom of the pool, but does not adversely affect its quality.

The pool has courts for beach volleyball, volleyball, and foot tennis.

There is a children’s play area with a sandbox and jungle gym. A refreshment kiosk offers a variety of snacks and drinks.
