Decin’s municipal library is housed in a new building, designed with the reader in mind. This striking piece of architecture has made its mark on the cityscape, becoming one of the most remembered structures in town. Fashioned like a great bookcase filled with colorful books, it holds classic reading rooms and a fully-equipped educational center as well as one of the city’s visitor information centers with its small cafe. The info center serves coffee from local roasters, beer from local brewers, and other regional products in a small, but pleasant, seating area at the base of the library with a view of the river and the Pastyrska Stena bluff.
A set of bike storage boxes, tucked under the library building, will hold your bike and all of your stuff (your backpack, helmet, rollerblades, etc.) while you’re touring the town. You can also charge your electrobike here. There are staffed public toilets at the base of the library as well. Toilets can be used for a slight charge during operating hours (8:00 am to 6:00 pm in the summer, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in the winter).
Thanks to your contributions, Děčín can also be admired online. Tag Instagram photos with #idecin and we'll show them here.
