The Elbe Cycle Route and the Ploučnice bike trail will be connected by a new section approximately 380 metres long, which will replace part of the existing cycle path that runs along a busy road. Currently, the entire connection between the two cycle paths runs along the road around the Kaufland shopping park and the ice rink in Decin’s Old Town neighborhood.

"This route is used by locals for work and leisure activities, as well as by long-distance cyclists. Thanks to the new connection, cyclists and pedestrians will feel much safer here," says Ondrej Smisek (Nas Decin), Deputy Mayor for Municipal Development and IT.

Work on this section also includes laying cables that will connect the ice rink, swimming pool and nearby primary school and will be used for solar power and new public lighting for the cycle path.
