Wear your "bear" to the zoo

Are you in the mood for breaking records? If so, don't miss the event in the Děčín Zoo from 2 PM on August 31st! Not only there will be celebration of the zoo's 75th birthday, but there will also be an attempt to set a new Czech record!

The record is about gathering the highest number of people wearing a bear-themed t-shirt at the zoo. The event will be managed by the Dobrý den Agency from Pelhřimov - it will record the achievement in the Czech Book of Records and Curiosities. "Bears have been a part of the Děčín zoo almost since its beginning, and everyone loves our current one – the Kamchatka bear Bruno, so the theme for the anniversary celebration was clear," said zoo spokesperson Alena Houšková.

Those who come wearing a bear t-shirt will be rewarded with a discounted entrance fee at the entrance. Adults in bear-themed t-shirts will have an entrance fee of just 75 Czech crowns on August 31 (as we are celebrating the 75th anniversary), while children, students, and seniors will pay only 50 crowns. T-shirts with bears can be purchased now at the zoo’s ticket office, at Děčín’s information centers, or on our e-shop. However, you can also come wearing your own t-shirt. "It doesn’t matter if the bear is depicted as a photo, a drawing, an applique, or an iron-on transfer. Feel free to be creative and draw the bear on your t-shirt yourself. For the record entry, any garment with a bear will count, whether it's a hoodie, sweater, vest, tank top, onesie, or pajamas," added spokesperson Houšková.

The record will be the main part of the program, but it won’t be the only highlight. There will also be a birthday celebration with a huge gift! The gift will be the introduction of a new plush mascot – a twin of Bear Bruno, who will bring joy to the younger visitors at future events.

A rich program full of competitions and interesting activities will take place in the forest amphitheater. “We’ll cut the birthday cake and toast to the garden’s continued growth in the coming years,” says the zoo spokesperson. Throughout the zoo grounds, there will be many stalls offering various activities and refreshments. Due to the limited parking capacity, the zoo would appreciate if visitors use either the walking trails or the minibus on line 216, which runs at regular intervals to the zoo. The bus stops are at the Tesco shopping center, where there is convenient parking, at the parking lot on Práce Street (another parking option), at the train and bus stations, and also at the Exposition Paradise Islands. This bus service is free for everyone.
